Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will have plenty on his plate this summer in the transfer market as he looks to build a squad that can maintain domestic dominance and make a mark in Europe.

Several positions need strengthening over the coming weeks and months, left-back being one.

Greg Taylor is a steady comPetitor and has been nothing but reliable for the Hoops over the past three years.

One cannot help but feel, though, that the champions could do with added depth and quality in that area of the pitch, especially with Alexandro Bernabei not due back from his loan in Brazil until New Year.

January links to Owen Beck were well documented, with it looking like Celtic were going to sign the Welshman until he made an appearance for Liverpool at the tail end of the window, ruling out any move.

The 21-year-old returned to Dundee for the second half of the campaign and now, is back in Merseyside.

Links to the Hoops may well re-emerge this summer, but Beck could yet be in the plans of new Reds boss Arne Slot.

According to The Athletic, Beck will be given the chance to impress Slot and become the second-choice to Andy Robertson for the new 2024/25 season amid Kostas Tsimikas’ likely departure.

If he does become a regular member of the first team at Anfield, it will be difficult for Celtic to revisit their interest in the player.

Beck is undoubtedly a talent who is proven in Scotland, but the Hoops may well need to identify other left-back targets this summer.
