Celtic-Linked Goalkeeper Looks set for Dutch Move
Celtic were reportedly keeping tabs on former RKC Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen as they sought to fill the void left by Joe Hart’s retirement, but they faced competition from Dutch clubs.
Vaessen, now a free agent after his contract with RKC Waalwijk expired, has attracted interest from several Eredivisie clubs, including Willem II and NAC Breda, who have already extended offers to the 28-year-old.
Vaessen is keen on securing a club where he can be the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
According to Voetbal International, Vaessen was spotted in the stands of the Rat Verlegh Stadium, the home of Breda, during the play-offs, fueling speculation about his next move.
Reports suggest he has had informal discussions with several clubs, indicating a move within the Netherlands could be imminent.
Reports have said that the champions’ number 1 target is Sparta Prague ‘keeper Peter Vindahl Jensen, although recent reports have linked Celtic to a move for Newcastle stopper Martin Dubravka.
