Callum McGregor Mystery
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed his Celtic team to play Motherwell this afternoon, making three changes from Wednesday night’s draw with Atalanta in Bergamo.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel keeps his place between the sticks, as does the whole backline after their heroic display midweek. That means Alistair Johnston, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales, and Alex Valle begin together for the third Game running.
Reo Hatate keeps his place, but Arne Engels has dropped out. Fans who wanted to see Luke McCowan get the nod will be delighted to see him get a start. However, it does come at the expense of Callum McGregor who is strangely not on the squad today.
Up top, Kyogo Furuhashi replaces Adam Idah, who put in a valiant shift in Italy.
Despite a recent dip in form, Daizen Maeda begins again, although Nicolas Kuhn doesn’t start. Veteran James Forrest comes into the team in place of the German.
On the bench, there are places for the likes of Viljami Sinisalo, Idah, Luis Palma, and Luke McCowan, among others.
Kick-off at Fir Park is at 3 p.m.
The Hoops are under pressure to secure a victory, which would see them return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table after current title challengers Aberdeen beat Dundee United 1-0 last night.
The action is live on Sky Sports.
