Bronny James could have done anything he wanted with his life. As the son of LeBron James, in some people’s eyes the greatest of all time, he didn’t have to play basketball professionally.

That’s the path he ultimately chose, though.

Thanks to LeBron’s efforts, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny with their second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

This week Bronny took to social media and revealed the hardest part of being forced to be an NBA player.

“I miss my baby,” Bronny wrote in his Instagram Story prior to tipoff against the Pistons on Monday night. “Love u sm.”

Being away from loved ones is an unfortunate consequence of being an NBA player. But again – Bronny chose this path for himself. Much to the chagrin of some.

According to coach J.J. Redick, Bronny will be splitting his time between the Los Angeles Lakers and the South Bay Lakers this year.

“The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay has always been the plan since Day 1,” Los Angeles coach JJ Redick said. “(General manager) Rob (Pelinka) and I have talked about that. LeBron’s talked about that.”

Comparing Bronny to NBA competition isn’t fair. But in college, against similar talent, he put up 4.8 points per game on 36.6 percent shooting.

If he does that with South Bay as well, there will be serious questions regarding how much longer his NBA career will last.

Fortunately, even if things in the pro ranks don’t work out for Bronny, he can always return home and spend more time with his girlfriend.
