Brendan Rodgers Reveals Exactly When Callum McGregor Will Return
Brendan Rodgers has discussed when he believes Callum McGregor will return from injury after missing today’s match against Motherwell due to an abductor injury.
Abductor injuries have differing return timelines depending on the strain, with a mild strain only needing one to two weeks out of training.
Rodgers said: (The Scotsman), “It shouldn’t be too serious, I got the call late last night, and with the number of Games he’s played over the years, I think it was really sensible as well.
“It was really mature, because maybe before he might not have mentioned it. He had a wee feeling after the training session yesterday. And then I got to find out, and we said let’s see how he is in the morning.
“Rather than take any risk with it, we didn’t want to put him on to maybe stretch it and then be out for a number of weeks. So, hopefully he’ll be fine over these next few days, and if not Wednesday, then hopefully he should be fine for next weekend.”
Great insight from Rodgers on when he found out about the injury and exactly when he expects McGregor back.
This openness with supporters about such a crucial player is exactly what all Celtic fans want to see.
Hopefully, McGregor can make Wednesday’s Game if possible, but he should by no means be rushed back if not ready.
