Brendan Rodgers Praised For Saying “Exactly” What He Should’ve at the Weekend
Pat Nevin has praised Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for saying ‘exactly’ what he should have following his side’s 3-0 victory over St. Mirren at the weekend.
Although the Hoops took a while to get going, when they clicked into gear, they played some entertaining stuff.
Reo Hatate opened the scoring before Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah each got a goal.
The result heaped pressure on Rangers for their trip to Dingwall on Sunday under which they cracked.
A 3-2 win for Ross County was hugely beneficial for The Bhoys, with their title challengers still having to go to Dens Park on Wednesday evening.
Rodgers admitted after his side’s emphatic weekend win that he’d rather be in their position having played their Games. He said: [RecordSport] “I’d rather be the team with points in the bag at the top.”
For these comments, Nevin has heavily praised the Celtic boss’ managerial abilities, stating that the Irishman said precisely what he should have.
The pundit believes Rodgers’ words ramped the pressure up on Rangers. He said: [BBC Scottish Football Podcast] “Right after the Game, there was a few words from Brendan and Brendan was saying ‘You’d much rather have the points in the bag’.
“There we go, turn that pressure gauge up, and that’s exactly what he was going and that’s exactly what you should do if you’re a manager.”
