Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers discussed how he inspired his sluggish players during halftime against Ross County in Dingwall.

With Celtic trailing 1-0 at half-time, the Irishman delivered some home truths to his team, aiming to inject energy into a side that appeared lacklustre in the first-half.

Rodgers said: (Scottish Sun), “I said to them at half time ‘You’re either looking for an easy Game or you’re feeling sorry for yourself, but whatever it is, it’s NOT enough.’

“We had to go and impose our way of playing and get the energy back into the Game again, and then obviously the second half we were much better.

“We deserved to win the Game but in the first half we were too slow and too passive.

“But it was too slow and we said that at half time. We’re a team that can never look for an easy Game and it just looked a little bit ponderous and a bit slow and then we didn’t create enough.”

Rodgers’ message certainly worked; the second half was definitely a level up.

However, given the lacklustre nature of the first 45 minutes, it seems that the international break comes at the right time for Celtic, especially with the large number of games they’ve played since the beginning of the season.

One thing Rodgers will hope for is that his players on international duty come through unscathed from injuries.

The international break often poses a tough challenge for club managers, as they watch their players go away to play two Games over the week.
