A video uploaded to TikTok showed the group wearing hoodies and stacking cartons full of alcohol including raspberry Vodka Cruisers, cider and whisky and cola into trolleys.
The thieves managed to shield their faces before running out of the store with the packed trolleys.
Disgruntled staff and customers witnessing the robbery are heard in the footage yelling out to the men.
“I hope you’re proud guys!” one man yells.
“F****** w******s.”
The video quickly gained a lot of attention on TikTok with over half a millions views and over 2,000 comments.
A heated debate was sparked in the comments section of the post as to whether those witnesses should have intervened.
“Why didn’t anyone stop them?” one person asked.
“First few seconds was rather obvious these folks weren’t paying.. why was the door open?” another added.
However, others agreed those inside the store were right to stand by and avoid getting themselves in harm’s way.
“No stock is worth potential harm to yourself or others you can actually get in trouble for trying to get in the way of people,” one person suggested.
“Let ‘em go, not worth the risk. Karma will catch up with them,” another added.
A South Australia Police spokesperson confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au the incident is being investigated.
“Patrols responded to reports of theft from the liquor store on Waterloo Corner Road, Burton just before 2pm on Saturday 14 January,” they said in a statement.
“The four thieves loaded up shopping trolleys with alcohol and made off without payment. There were no injuries reported during the incident.
“Investigations into the theft are continuing.”
