This weekend’s series against the New York Mets will have all eyes in the National League watching. The Phillies are ready to wrap up the NL East, but it’s the #1 seed in the National League that they’re eyeing. The Los Angeles Dodgers are tied in the win/loss column with the Phillies after last night; it’s time for the Phillies to wake up. Insert a duel against David Peterson — a LHP they faced off against 5 days ago.

Peterson put together one of the best outings of his season against the Phillies on the 15th. He went 7.2 innings — a season high. But against an experienced group that can mash the baseball, I’m banking on that familiarity paying dividends on Friday night. He steals bases, drives in runs and has great pop from the 2-hole. Tonight, I’m backing him against Peterson — a pitcher he has 16 plate appearances against in his career.

Turner is hitting .333 vs LHP in the last 30 days and .327 since the all-star break. He is fresh off hitting a 436-foot home run last night, and with the return of Alec Bohm in the batting order, 1-5 in this lineup is back to being loaded.
