With divorce rumours swirling on deck, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have allegedly listed their USD 60 million marital house for sale. With trouble brewing on the horizon for the couple, whose lavish summer weddings (they had two), plus various parties and luxe honeymoons took place just two short years ago, one thing appears to certain: The couple are bidding farewell to their Beverly Hills property.

Where celebrity relationships, marriages, entanglements, and divorces are concerned, one thing has always remained true: The winds of change are often just around the horizon. In the case of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, who rekindled their romance in 2021 after failing to make it down the aisle in the early 2000s, change may come sooner rather than later.

A rumoured split?

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first met in 2001; by the time 2002 rolled around, they were very much in love and very much engaged to be married. However, fate intervened, leading the couple to end their engagement in 2004. Lopez moved on to longtime friend Marc Anthony, with whom she enjoyed a decade-long marriage; Affleck, too, appeared to look ahead, and in 2005, tied the knot with actress Jennifer Garner. The duo remained married until 2018, after which Affleck briefly dated actress Ana de Armas.

The stars aligned once again; in 2021, Affleck and de Armas ended their relationship, and Lopez ended her engagement with baseball shortstop Alex Rodriguez. The duo were then seen cavorting together once more, and eventually made it down the aisle in a surprise Vegas ceremony in July 2022.

An intimate Parisian honeymoon and one month later, the couple held their second wedding ceremony in Affleck’s Riceboro, Georgia estate, before embarking on their second honeymoon, where they were photographed enjoying one another’s company in Milan and Lake Como.

By all accounts, the couple appeared deeply in love in the early days of their marriage. However, fans have since pointed out that Affleck often looks unhappy when photographed with his new bride, prompting commentary on his ‘resting misery face’. While Lopez has since addressed her husband’s apparent misery, insisting that “Ben is doing alright,” and that “He is good, he is happy,” pundits remain unconvinced.

Indeed, according to body language expert Judi James, the duo ‘appears to be speaking in body language riddles’. Speaking to The Daily Mail, James shared that Lopez often adopted a ‘frosty’ aspect in their public appearances, whilst Affleck seemed to avoid any form of PDA with his wife.

The couple have yet to comment on the swirling rumours of their imminent divorce; however, Lopez was noted to have dodged a bare-faced question as to the state of her marriage at a recent press junket for her latest Netflix film Atlas, leading fans to believe that there may be some truth to the rumours after all.

In spite of all the furore, the couple have nonetheless presented a united front. Most recently on May 16, Affleck and Lopez were photographed together for the first time since the rumours first broke of their potential split. The photos showed Lopez and her 16-year-old child Emme Muñiz waiting for Affleck to pick them up, and he soon arrived in a black SUV with his 15-year-old child Fin Affleck in tow. It should also be noted that the couple have continued to make public appearances while wearing their wedding rings, with Lopez spotted with hers while out for dinner with a friend at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica as recently as last Saturday.

We cannot really say for sure if Jenny from the Block was merely trying to make a point. However, the appearance comes just hours after the couple allegedly put up their USD 60 million marital home for sale, leading Celebrity pundits to believe that a Game of distraction is afoot.

While it is difficult to speculate with any real certainty on whether Bennifer are headed for divorce, their USD 60 million marital house remains a separate matter entirely.

According to reports, photographs of their lavish marital home have re-emerged on realtor websites, including Zillow. Following the home’s sale last May, the photos were removed. However, their recent re-emergence could be a sign that the property is once again on the market.

It bears noting that the property is currently listed as ‘sold’ on Zillow, leading many to believe that the couple intend to broker a deal quietly without drawing media attention.

This move comes off the back of recent happenings in the Bennifer sphere that point at trouble in paradise. Lopez notably cancelled the United States leg of her This Is Me Now tour, citing a desperate need to take time off for herself and her loved ones.

She was later pictured property shopping in Beverly Hills with producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, without Affleck present. Affleck currently resides in a Brentwood, Los Angeles rental property close by his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their children and has been reported to be house hunting on his own.

After a long two-year search for their dream home, Affleck and Lopez finalised their purchase of the 43,000 square foot mansion in Wallingford Drive, Beverly Hills on May 31 2023.

According to the listing on Zillow, the 17 bedroom, 30 bathroom property, which was built in 2000, is spread out over a 6-acre exclusive promontory located just 20 minutes away from LA’s premier private airport.

It also boasts garage space for 15 family vehicles, as well as ample parking spaces for 80 others. An indoor Sports complex replete with basketball, pickleball, gym, Boxing ring, Sports bar, and outdoor lounge facilitates an active Lifestyle, while an exquisite pool proffers views of the surrounding parks and mountains.

Guests to the home are also spoilt for choice, with 10,000 square feet worth of accommodations allocated to visitors. Additionally, the property boasts a two-bedroom guard house as well as a caretaker house.
