Bayern Munich have confirmed Anthony Barry has joined up with Thomas Tuchel's new backroom team.

Barry joined Chelsea in 2020 and has since watched his reputation grow on an international scale, becoming close with Tuchel during the German's spell in the dugout at Stamford Bridge.

Shortly after Tuchel's appointment at Bayern earlier this year, the boss confirmed his desire to reunite with Barry. An approach was made in March and, as 90min reported, an agreement was eventually reached to buy the coach out of his contract in London.

Now, Bayern have confirmed Barry's arrival in the German capital.

"I'm delighted that we've managed to sign Anthony Barry," said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. "Anthony completes our coaching team and, with his passion and quality, fits in perfectly with FC Bayern.”

90min understands Bayern have agreed to a deal which could see Chelsea earn up to €1m if all add-ons are met.

Barry's departure comes as Chelsea prepare to revamp their backroom staff once again with the appointment of a new permanent manager.

Frank Lampard, who has brought a number of staff members, will remain in temporary charge until the end of the current campaign, at which point a decision on a permanent successor will be made.

Former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann is a leading contender for the role alongside Mauricio Pochettino, while Chelsea have also been impressed by the work Vincent Kompany has done with Burnley.
