The blaugrana - which means 'blue and claret' in Catalan - are set to play in their white strip for tonight's game against Osasuna.

The team that played in white last night ended up winning, so maybe that'll give them some luck on the pitch!

For the first time in 44 years, the club released a white kit, saying that it "is part of the Club’s “Here to lead the way” campaign. Its innovative design pays homage to Barça’s History and to a shirt worn by Johan Cruyff, the forefather of FC Barcelona’s style of play." Can't argue with that.

Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz is the señor referee for the game today.

The Galician official has been a referee since 2021 and has plenty of experience in Spain’s top division.

He has refereed both Barcelona and Osasuna before, and, shockingly, has given cards to both of them - so there’s your controversy.

Yes, in a fantastically predictable move by the RFEF, they Spanish Super Cup was ‘reinvented’ and sold to Saudi Arabia.

The tournament, which used to be a two-legged curtain-raiser for the season, was stuck in a washing machine and came out as a final four tournament, with the top 2 in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey finalists all comPeting for the trophy.

It sounds incredibly unnecessary, and I’d argue that you’re right, but it is certainly true that the competition has benefitted from the change in style. Now, about the Saudi Arabia part…

The stadium is ready!

The venue for tonight's game - the 25,000 seater Al-Awaal park - was opened in 2015 and is the home of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr.

Team news: Osasuna

Unai García is back in the Osasuna squad after missing the last game against Castellón while Chimy Ávila, the team’s talisman forward, misses out with an injury.

Pablo Valencia, a youth team goalkeeper, has also made Jagoba Arrasate’s squad.

Team news: Barcelona

Xavi still has a number of injury issues to deal with, mainly in the backline.

Number one goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is still out as he recovers from a back injury.

Ahead of him, all of MarcosAlonso, ÍñigoMartínez and JoãoCanceloareunavailable, although the latter two have travelled with the squad despite their injuries. 

Pedri is also on the sidelines (and with the squad in Saudi Arabia) with a muscle issue, and is not expected to play a role in the Super Cup.
