Braves at Mariners picks and predictions
Prediction
Mariners 5, Braves 4
Moneyline
The MARINERS (+130) are worth a look in this interleague series opener, especially as short ‘dogs at home.
The Braves (-155) just played Sunday at home against Cleveland, then hopped the charter cross-country to Seattle’s Boeing Field, arriving at 11:05 p.m. ET after the 5-plus-hour flight. The Mariners were home sleeping in their own beds, an advantage that shouldn’t be discounted.
Yes, Fried dominated the Marlins last time out, but he has struggled on the road, and he will be facing a 1st-place team to boot.
Run line/Against the spread
The MARINERS +1.5 (-135) aren’t priced out of line, if you prefer to bet the run line rather than the moneyline. Obviously don’t do both as that’s not what we’re suggesting. But, if you’re a little more conservative, and you want some wiggle room in the event of a close game, or you’re not comfortable betting against the Braves, this is the next best option.
Over/Under
OVER 7 (-115) is a solid play in this home opener.
While Fried was lights out last time against the Marlins, chopping nearly 3 runs off of his ERA from 7.71 to 4.97, he has struggled this season, allowing 3 or more earned runs in 3 of his first 4 outings, including 2 of 3 road starts.
Miller has had some pretty good numbers overall, but he didn’t go long against the defending champ Texas Rangers, while serving up a pair of homers at T-Mobile Park last time out.
