The Houston Astros have been a consistent and successful team in the American League for the past decade, winning two World Series titles in that time. Astros fans remained calm and optimistic despite losing their first four Games of the season to the Yankees. Although the team struggled in the beginning with a rough bullpen and quiet bats, they have since shown improvement. However, in the opening Game of their series against the Royals, the Astros lost 4-3 in 10 innings despite a strong start that led to a 3-0 lead after four innings. Yordan Alvarez contributed an RBI single and double to the early lead. The Astros will now turn to righty Spencer Arrighetti for Game two of the series after Framber Valdez was placed on the injured list with left elbow iNFLaMMAtion.

The Kansas City Royals have been performing well this season with a 7-4 overall record. They secured a 4-3 victory after playing extra innings in their previous game. Cole Ragans started on the mound and pitched for five innings, giving up 10 hits and three runs. On average, the Royals score 4.4 runs per game, while their pitching gives up 2.5 runs. Despite enduring some challenging seasons since winning the World Series in 2015, the Royals and their fans have seen improvement, and this year’s squad appears to be capable of returning to respectability and even winning the AL Central Division. The Royals will hand the ball to their latest acquisition, righty Seth Lugo, for game two. Lugo has been everything the Royals could have hoped for and more since signing him this spring from the San Diego Padres. He is 1-0 in two starts with an ERA of 0.71, allowing 10 hits in 12.2 innings of work. Lugo has kept the ball on the ground and has been backed up by a stellar infield defense.
