Arsenal - Bayern injury update ahead of Champions League quarter-final

Arsenal are set to take on Bayern Munich (3 p.m. ET/ noon PT.) in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals that promise much. Ahead of the Game, both managers spoke about their squads and the threats they pose, as well as those players who will not be available for the first leg.

Mikel Arteta was confident of translating his side’s impressive run in the Premier League into the European comPetition, saying that “we’re really enjoying the moment, this is where we want to be. We’re in a really good position in the Premier League and we’re in a really good position in the Champions League. Arsenal injury update: Saka, Timber, Gabriel

Following his absence in the match against Luton Town, Saka returned to the starting lineup for Arsenal’s win over Brighton. Match sharpness was not an issue as Saka netted a goal to put Arsenal in the lead before being taken off in the 64th minute.

Just before half-time, Gabriel went down after Danny Welbeck’s challenge, with Arsenal’s physios racing onto the pitch to attend to the Brazil international, who managed to continue and complete the full 90 minutes.

Gabriel has been recuperating from an anterior cruciate liGament injury sustained in August during the Premier League encounter with Nottingham Forest. Arteta commented on the defender’s progress, stating “he’s doing very well. He’s back training, he’s not far off, the thing is that last step, he hasn’t played any minutes”.

Bayern injury update: Coman, Sané, Neuer

It seems that Bayern Munich also received some positive updates regarding player availability ahead of the game. Aleksandar Pavlovic, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané, and Noussair Mazraoui, who were all unavailable the previous match against Heidenheim, participated in training.

Manuel Neuer, who missed the last two games due to a muscle tear in his left adductor, also managed to complete training with the German club a day before kick-off. Sven Ulreich has stepped in for Neuer over the last two games and has conceded four goals. On Saturday, Bayern let a two-goal lead at Heidenheim slip, ultimately losing 3-2, with Tuchel admitting the race for the Bundesliga is over.
