Anya Taylor-Joy gleams in futuristic metal minidress for ‘Furiosa’ photo call in Mexico City
This star knows how to shine.
While Anya Taylor-Joy skipped the 2024 Met Gala, she still delivered plenty of glamour on Monday as she posed in quite the dystopian look to promote her forthcoming movie, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
The “Queen’s Gambit” star, 28, wowed in a custom suit-of-armor-style Balmain minidress crafted entirely from metal as she posed on a Mexico City rooftop during a photo call for the film.
Taylor-Joy showed off a behind-the-scenes look at how she got ready in her incredible silver dress on Instagram, writing, “🌺 Mi primera vez visitando Mexico…¡gracias por el cariño! @madmaxsaga #furiosa,” which translates to, “My first time visiting Mexico…. thanks for the love!”
In the Reel, which was set to Selena’s “Como la Flor,” the actress stands in a black turtleneck minidress as team members placed the metal pieces — which was made from separate parts for the front and back — on her body and fastened them together at the sides.
The work of art featured 3D metal roses on the shoulders, with the floral sculptures trailing down the front of her chest.
The “Menu” star wore her hair pulled up with loose tendrils framing her face, adding a bright red lip and long pink manicure.
She went jewelry-free to let her metal dress do the talking, completing the look with clear heels.
Fans couldn’t get over her futuristic ‘fit, like one who wrote, “Who needs the Met Gala when we have the Furiosa press tour?! You’re iconic, my dear!”

“Holy s—t that dress is actually perfect for the met gala’s theme…” another fan added, referring to the event’s “garden of time” dress code.
The “Emma” star also wore another bold look to promote the movie — which also stars Met Gala co-chair Chris Hemsworth — on Monday, stepping out in a fierce white skirt and matching cropped jacket featuring dangling straps and a black bandeau top underneath.
Taylor-Joy has been delivering plenty of other wild designs during the “Furiosa” press tour, like the spear-covered 1996 Paco Rabanne dress and enormous headpiece she rocked to the movie’s Sydney premiere last week.
What else will she pull out of her “Mad Max” wardrobe? Watch this space ahead of the flick’s May 24 release date.
