Adam Idah was the hero at Hampden as Celtic won the Scottish Cup and a resultant double in the Saturday afternoon sunshine.

It was a hugely stressful afternoon for supporters but in the end, the Hoops’ serial winning mentality came to the fore.

The momentum seemed to be in favour of Rangers going into the closing stages but as Paulo Bernardo broke free, he had a vicious strike at goal which Jack Butland couldn’t handle. As any good number nine should, Idah was there to tap home the rebound.

To a seen of green and white, the Irishman raised his fists to the sky in celebration as he continued his impactful mark on Celtic since joining the club on loan at the beginning of February.

He has scored countless crucial goals, but perhaps no more were as key and iconic as the one he bagged this afternoon.

Naturally, the 23-year-old’s form has led many fans to call for him to be signed permanently by the champions.

Almost immediately after full-time today, Idah was quizzed on his future. “Football’s a tricky situation, I do love it here, I’ve said it previously it’s a great club”, he said (live on air on BBC Scotland).

I’m still contracted with Norwich and (I’m) going to go back there in the summer and we’ll see what happens.”
