2024 NBA Playoff bracket: matchups, game dates and times of the Eastern and Western conferences

The NBA regular season is done and dusted. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics who finished top of the Eastern Conference and the Oklahoma City Thunder who clinched top spot in the Western Conference, just squeezing out the Nuggets on Sunday night.

That means we know that in round 1 we’ll see the following matchups

Eastern Conference

Celtics vs East No. 8

Knicks vs East No.7

Bucks vs Pacers

Cavaliers vs Magic

Western Conference

Thunder vs West No. 8

Nuggets vs West No. 7

Timberwolves vs Suns

Clippers vs Mavericks

NBA Postseason all set

Before we get to the playoffs proper, we’ve got the play-in tournament, that takes place this week to decide spots seven and eight in each conference.

Remember, in each conference number seven plays number eight, with the winner getting the seventh seed spot. The loser plays the winner of the game between ninth and tenth to see who gets the eighth seed spot.

Tuesday, April 16

No. 7 Pelicans vs No. 8 Lakers, 7:30 p.m.

No 9 Kings vs No. 10 Warriors, 10 p.m.

Wednesday, April 17

No. 7 76ers vs No. 8 Heat, 7 p.m.

No 9 Bulls vs No. 10 Hawks, 9:30 p.m.

Friday April 19

East 7/8 vs East 9/10, Time TBD

West 7/8 vs West 9/10, Time TBD

NBA Playoffs schedule

Once the top eight seeds are settled after the play-in tournament it’s time for the playoffs proper.

The first round starts on Saturday, April 20 with, as usual, each series being the best of seven games. The team with the best regular-season record has home-court advantage, which means they play games 1, 2, 5 and 7 at home, and games 3, 4 and 6 on the road.

So far most of the games for round 1 of the playoffs are yet to be decided but we do know the following:

Game 1: Nuggets vs. West No. 7, Time TBD
