As the 66th Caribbean Series heads to the United States for the first time, the reigning champions Tigres del Licey will ride a wave of enthusiastic home fans in Miami.

The baton has been passed on to the Dominican Republic’s most storied team, as former manager Jose Offerman is replaced in the role by Gilbert Gómez. Offerman has been loved and hated in almost equal measure throughout his baseball career, but there is no doubt that he was able to put up results. Gómez has so far been just as successful without any of the histrionics, and Tigres will be hoping that it stays that way.
