2024 Black Desert Championship: Round 2 Friday tee times, pairings, and featured groups
This week, the PGA Tour is in Utah for the 2024 Black Desert Championship at Black Desert Resort. It’s the first time the Tour has visited Utah since 1963. Black Desert Resort boasts a Tom Weiskopf design, nestled amidst ancient black lava fields and surrounded by the red rock mountains, approximately 30 miles from Zion National Park.
In other words, this venue is not the typical setting that pros or fans are accustomed to seeing week after week on Tour. Consequently, the pros in the field had to adapt their strategies to accommodate the unique course conditions.
In Thursday’s opening round, the Golfers didn’t seem to be fazed by the setup, as there were plenty of birdies. Adam Svensson made a 35-foot eagle putt that he thought he had missed and closed with a birdie from the bunker for a career-best 11-under 60, giving him a two-shot lead on Thursday. Svensson made seven birdies through 10 holes in the afternoon before finishing with a flourish. This marks the second week in a row during the FedExCup Fall portion of the PGA TOUR that a player shot 60. David Skinns missed a 10-foot putt for a chance at 59 in the Sanderson Farms Championship.
The fight for FedEx points continues on Friday with the second round in Utah.

As the sun dipped below the horizon in southwestern Utah, the opening round of the Golf tournament came to an abrupt halt. Among those who could not finish was 65-year-old Jay Don Blake, a native of Utah and a former PGA TOUR champion.
He had been granted a special exemption to participate in his 500th career event on the TOUR. Blake’s roots ran deep in the area, as he had grown up just a half-mile away from the resort, which had once been an ancient lava field.
Despite his strong connection to the course, he found himself 3-over par through 15 holes when play was halted.
