With Salman Khan's cameo, Singham Again surpassing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 on opening day | The Express Tribune
Ajay Devgn’s latest action drama, Singham Again, opened to strong box office numbers on its first day, earning approximately $11.8 million and edging ahead of the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, according to the Indian box-office tracking website Sacnilk.com.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film is the newest addition to the director’s renowned ‘Cop Universe’.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan, also released on November 1 and has garnered considerable interest. However, Singham Again has managed to take the lead in day-one ticket sales.
Based on data from the Times of India, Singham Again sold 226,000 tickets across major cinema chains, netting a revenue of around $8.6 million. Advance sales for the film reached an estimated $15.1 million, although actual sales are projected to surpass this figure.
Directed and co-produced by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again stars Ajay Devgn in the titular role, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. It also includes cameo appearances by major stars including Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff. Kumar and Singh reprise their roles from previous entries in Shetty’s ‘Cop Universe’.
The plot of Singham Again revolves around the kidnapping of Singham’s wife, Avni (Kareena Kapoor), by the antagonist Danger Lanka, played by Arjun Kapoor. Singham embarks on a journey inspired by the ancient Hindu epic, the Ramayana, to rescue her.
With a production budget of approximately $4.2–4.5 million, Singham Again is the costliest film in Shetty’s franchise to date, adding further anticipation to its box office journey.
Moreover, Salman Khan’s cameo as the iconic character Chulbul Pandey in Singham Again has caused a frenzy among fans, who packed theatres to witness his crossover into Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cop Universe’. Salman Khan’s appearance alongside Ajay Devgn marks the first time his Dabangg character joins Shetty's cinematic universe, igniting social media with viral clips and fans’ enthusiastic responses.
Excitement surged as Salman Khan entered in a revamped look, distinct from his traditional Dabangg style, donning his signature cop attire with sunglasses hanging on his collar. Fans were captivated as he delivered his line, “Ab ayega mazaa,” drawing loud cheers and applause from the audience.
Leaked footage from early screenings shows fans erupting with applause and chanting in response to Salman Khan’s cameo.
