Rodrygo Goes may be at risk of losing his side in Real Madrid’s starting XI if the club sign Kylian Mbappé, a forward who would likely occupy his position in the current system.

Can you have too much of a good thing? Real Madrid might well be on their way to having such a problem. With the arrival of an angry Kylian Mbappé heavily rumoured and (fan-made) scarves already being sold outside the stadium, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti could well be in in the queue at the local pharmacy with headache tablets on his mind.

However, news from Spain suggests that the future of the Brazilian lies in the capital, with Cadena SER radio reporting that Rodrygo has already rejected interest from both the Premier League and Ligue 1. The station says that if Mbappé arrives, Rodrygo thinks that Real Madrid “will be the best Football project in the world”.

Which clubs want to sign Rodrygo?

It goes on to say that Rodrygo wants to stay at the club “100%” despite the level of teams interested: Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The forward has scored 10 goals this season for Real Madrid, his best goalscoring tally in his professional career. His most recent goals came in the LaLiga Game against Athletic Club, where, in the absence of Vini Jr due to suspension, the former Santos man took on the responsibility of leading the forward line and scored both goals in a 2-0 win to keep his side at the top of the league.

How will Ancelotti fit Mbappé, Vini Jr and Rodrygo into his starting XI?

Kylian Mbappé, for his part, has scored 24 goals in 25 Ligue 1 Games this season, as well as recording 5 assists, the same as Rodrygo. The French forward has been heavily linked with a move to Spain for years, but this season, with the news that he will finally leave the club make his signing all the more likely.

Real Madrid’s next Game is against an injury-hit Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on April 9 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. After that they play away against Real Mallorca before the second leg in northern England. Madrid won’t have Mbappé and Ancelotti won’t have a migraine, but they’ll certainly need all the attacking firepower they can possibly squeeze onto the pitch to get past the Manchester machine.
