The new season of MLB action is nearly underway. Ahead of the 2024 season MLB teams will take part in the Seoul Series from on Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday March 21

The games will be played at Gocheok SkyDome in Seoul, South Korea and each team will compete in a two-game series. With the 2024 MLB season set to start on Thursday 28 March this offers a last chance for those involved to prepare for the new campaign.

On Wednesday the San Diego Padres will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in one of the most hotly-anticipated matchups of the off-season. Teams often choose to rotate their rosters ahead of the start of the regular season, giving opportunities to impress to younger players and offering new arrivals the chance to stake their claim.

That being said, here’s how we think the Padres and the Dodgers could line up for the 2024 Seoul Series...

Padres predicted starting lineup

  1. Xander Bogaerts, 2B
  2. Fernando Tatis Jr., RF
  3. Jake Cronenworth, 1B
  4. Manny Machado, 3B
  5. He-seong Kim, SS
  6. Graham Pauley, DH
  7. Luis Campusano, C
  8. Jurrickson Profar, LF
  9. Jackson Merrill, CF

Dodgers predicted starting lineup

  1. Mookie Betts, SS
  2. Shohei Ohtani, DH
  3. Freddie Freeman, 1B
  4. Will Smith, C
  5. Max Muncy, 3B
  6. James Outman, CF
  7. Teoscar Hernandez, RF
  8. Jason Heyward, LF
  9. Gavin Lux, 2B

Aside from those starting pitchers, there should be plenty for the home crowd to enjoy with a number of South Korean-born players expected to get some game time.

Padres’ in-fielder Ha-Seong Kim and reliever Woo-Suk Go will likely get some minutes in front of their compatriots. Of course, the big draw will be Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani who holds an incredible pull in Asia and is one of a number of Japanese players who will likely be involved. Japanese stars Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Yu Darvish also have enormous following across the Far East and will expect to feature in the upcoming Seoul Series.
