When can Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever secure a playoff berth?
One name has eclipsed the 2024 WNBA season with Caitlin Clark generating headlines on a weekly basis and the presence of the Iowa born player driving unprecedented interest in the league across the world.
Clark was drafted into the WNBA by the Indiana Fever back in April and her initial time with the team got off to a sluggish start as they lost their opening five games with the 22-year-old getting off to a poor start compared to the level of expectation thrust on her young shoulders. The no. 1 Draft pick’s period of adaptation is now just a distant memory as she continues to make more history with the Indiana Fever.
The Fever’s miserable start to the season is also a thing of the past, with Clark’s form helping her team to nine wins in 14 matchups helping the Indiana outfit to move into sixth place in the standings and with just seven Games of the regular season to go, the Fever are a solid bet to secure a postseason spot as the regular campaign comes to a close on 19 September.
WNBA playoffs
The top eight teams (from 12) progress to the playoffs with the first round of the playoffs set to feature four three-game series. The top placed team play the team in eighth place with a homecourt pattern of 2–1 (the higher seed hosts games 1 and 2, while the lower seed hosts game 3, if needed.
The semi finals round will consist of two best-of-five series and the WNBA Finals will also be a best-of-five series.
The Fever are 6-1 since the Olympic break with three of those victories away from Indiana and their reward is six consecutive home games starting Wednesday against the last-place Los Angeles Sparks before the regular-season finale at Washington with one more win potentially securing the coveted playoff berth.
