WhatsApp may launch 'view once' feature for text messages
After offering the view once feature for photos and videos, WhatsApp is reportedly working on the same feature for text-based messages.
The feature will allow users to send messages that can be viewed once, with no access granted for later viewing. This feature can help send sensitive information.
The new feature is expected to be a part of the Beta version update of WhatsApp that might be coming soon. Currently, WhatsApp does offer the disappearing messages feature, which allows the user to make every message in the chat disappear after a specific time.
However, the new tool will help with specific messages rather than the whole conversation.

As per the reports of the WABetaInfo Community, the new update button will be next to the chat bar with a lock symbol within the button. Hence it denotes the 'view once' option.
As of now, Whatsapp has declined to comment. There has yet to be a confirmation as to when the update will be released.
