What’s Jannik Sinner’s injury status before the Roland Garros?
The reigning Australian Open champion, Yannick Sinner, might not participate in this year’s Roland Garros. This is due to a hip injury he sustained during the Madrid Open, which he recently revealed is more severe than previously thought.
According to tennismajors.com, Sinner withdrew from Madrid before his quarterfinal match against Felix Auger-Aliassime due to hip discomfort. A few days later, he announced that he would also miss the tournament in Rome, as the injury required more time to heal.
“We all thought it wasn’t a serious problem; I don’t want to say exactly what it is. If it wasn’t 100% healed, I would be forced to stop playing for a long time. Roland Garros? We still have to decide a few things for Paris. The preparation will not be optimal. My team and I will do our best to get there with as high a percentage as possible to comPete.” Jannik Sinner said at the press conference.
The Italian Tennis player’s fans could have genuine concerns over the recent injury sustained. Though his team hopes that he will be able to play at Roland Garros, they are worried that if his hip is not completely healed before his next match, he will be forced to spend an extensive amount of time on the sidelines. The severity of the injury underscores the importance of ensuring that he is fully healed before returning to the court.
Even if he can comPete in Paris, his preparation will not be optimal, which could affect his performance and chances of winning. The news is disappointing and unwelcome for the young Italian, who had a spectacular start to 2024.
If the world No. Two is forced to miss the second Grand Slam of the year; it will be a major setback, especially considering his superb win in the first Grand Slam in Melbourne back in January. Sinner has just three weeks before Roland Garros starts, a period that will prove pivotal to how the rest of his clay-court season plays out. Sinner’s team, in the meantime, will closely monitor his progress and ensure that he receives the best possible care and treatment to ensure a speedy recovery.
