Goalkeeper is a position Celtic must promptly address this summer amid Joe Hart’s imminent retirement.

The English stopper will take off his gloves for the last time after the Scottish Cup final on the 25th of May.

It will be an emotional moment regardless of the result, and it marks the end of a three-year era of solidity between the sticks for the Hoops.

Traditionally, Celtic have reliable stoppers, none more talented and dependable than Fraser Forster.

Now under the management of Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, Forster is one of the greatest Celtic ‘keepers of all time – some of his performances in green and white defied belief.

Over two spells in Glasgow, he won eight trophies and put in some outstanding displays along the way.

He was hailed as ‘the great wall’ after a European tie with Barcelona while his Man of the Match performance against the Catalonians at Parkhead in 2012 was incredible.

Forster similarly stood out in the 2019 League Cup final. It would be accurate to say his saves won Celtic the Game that day.

Recently speaking on his ex-England teaMMAte Ben Foster’s ‘Fozcast’ podcast, the 36-year-old reflected on his time in Glasgow with fondness.

He said: “What a club – an amazing club. Fans (are) amazing, just everything about it. (I) just loved it.

“I was fortunate I got to go there so early in my career. But yeah, I honestly loved my first time there and obviously I got to go back for a season later in my career and absolutely loved it.

“It’s just such a special club. It means the world to the fans.

“Until you go and you’re part of it and see what it means to people and what a huge club it is, I think people probably down south don’t appreciate it.

“I’m so privileged and honoured that I played for that club.”
