McLaren have become the latest Formula 1 team to tease of a potential one-off livery for the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

After Williams sponsor Gulf hinted at a fresh livery for the race in the Principality, McLaren have joined the fun, hinting that the MCL60s of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri could be decked out in new colours.

In a video celebrating McLaren's exploits in the Triple Crown of Motorsport – Monaco, the Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours – the team teased a potential black and white livery with a blurred image of this year's car not in its traditional orange.

If the team commit to running such a livery, it could be in honour of the 1966 Monaco GP where founder Bruce McLaren entered his eponymous team into a World Championship Grand Prix for the first time – lasting nine laps before retiring with an oil leak.

McLaren have won in Monaco a record 15 times between the first with Alain Prost in 1984 and Lewis Hamilton in 2008.

They are contenders for victory in the Indy 500 as well, with Pato O'Ward, Felix Rosenqvist, Alexander Rossi and Tony Kaanan leading a four-car attack at the Brickyard, with those machines each featuring special liveries from the Triple Crown.

McLaren won the 500 in 1972, 1974 and 1976, latterly with Johnny Rutherford, while in 1995, they claimed overall victory at Le Mans with the McLaren F1 road car.
