The Golden State Warriors parted ways with Stephen Curry in the messiest way imaginable this past offseason.

There seems to be a lot of ill will on all sides. Thompson didn’t like how Stephen Curry and Draymond Green handled his departure. The latter two don’t seem all that sorry to see Thompson gone.

With Thompson gone, the Warriors have a very clear void when it comes to who their second-best player is behind Curry.

This week, team GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. addressed the matter.

“The positive of that is that is a little bit unknown and so going out every night if you’re an opponent you say ‘Who do you have to stop besides Steph Curry?’ The good news is, maybe they don’t know either.

“I think for us, whether it’s Wiggs, JK, or Brandin who can score the ball, I think we have a lot of ways to do it. Some nights it’s going to be different guys. But as I alluded to earlier, I think a little bit with the uncertainty is exciting, in the sense of ‘We got some things to find out’.”

It will be interesting to see how that strategy ultimately works out for Golden State.

Last year, this group failed to make the playoffs.

Will the Warriors be able to right that wrong during the 2024-25 NBA season? Time will tell.
