Tom Brady’s TV contract: How much money will he make as a NFL analyst for Fox?
As any football fan can attest, FOX Sports’ newest signing needs no introduction. Widely considered the greatest player in NFL history, Tom Brady, will look to bring his talents to the broadcasting booth as the network’s top NFL analyst for the 2024 season and beyond. Yet, just how much will the seven-time Super Bowl winner pocket as he covers the campaign all the way down to Super Bowl 59?
Tom Brady’s FOX Sports contract explained
According to a 2022 report, Tom Brady put pen to paper on a 10-year, $375 million deal from Fox to become an analyst for NFL Games. To that end, it’s understood that the former signal caller will earn roughly $37.5 million annually, meaning he will be among the highest-paid personalities on TV today. To put things in perspective, CBS’ Tony Romo - another former quarterback - pockets roughly $18 million annually, while ESPN’s own Troy Aikman - yet another former QB - takes home around $17.5 million per season.
It’s worth noting, however, that securing Brady’s services, despite the above-mentioned figures, was not at all easy. In a recent interview with the Ringer, Fox executives Eric Shanks and Brad Zager explained the “Hail Mary” plan that it took to land the 47-year-old. “Shanks and Zager were trying to convince Brady, who’d retired from football, to take a job he’d never shown interest in,” The Ringer’s report states. “They wanted to make Brady Fox’s no. 1 NFL analyst and have him call the next Super Bowl.”
“It was only because he was retired that we threw that Hail Mary,” Zager said. Clearly intent on getting their man, Fox’s executives pulled a few trick plays of their own including showing Brady a video reel of highlights from his illustrious career. In the clip which used footage from the network itself, the multiple Super Bowls which the future Hall of Famer won were on full display. “To build a new legacy, become the face of a network dedicated to giving you every resource possible to succeed with it,” the narrator in the video stated.
As we now know, Brady was convinced and in the end, a mammoth contract was signed which brings us to the finer details i.e., how many games will he call and how much does he stand to earn per game? Now, as you know the NFL season has 18 weeks followed by three rounds of the playoffs and finally the Super Bowl. With that in mind, it’s quite possible that fans could see Brady calling as many as 22 games during the 2024 NFL season. In such a slate, he would earn approximately $1.7 million per game. Needless to say, that’s a pretty penny added to a reported net worth of $300 million and an impressive portfolio of business ventures that include team ownership and real estate.
