The Detroit Tigers will play the Colorado Rockies in Game 2 of their series on Saturday night at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers are 35-46 this season and they have lost three of their last four Games. Prior to losing the first Game in this series, Detroit spilt a four Game series with the Rangers. The Detroit pitching staff has a 4.47 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and a .247 opponent batting average this season. The Tigers offense has scored 309 runs with a .230 batting average and a .301 on base percentage. Spencer Torkelson is batting .223 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI’s for the Tigers. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Tyler Alexander, who is 2-1 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP over 42.2 innings pitched this year.

Rockies Preview

The Colorado Rockies are 33-51 this season and they have alternated wins and losses over their last eight Games. Colorado won Game 1 in this series by a score of 8-5 on Friday night. The Colorado pitching staff has a 5.76 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, and a .285 opponent batting average. The Rockies offense has scored 369 runs with a .256 batting average and a .317 on base percentage this year. Elias Diaz is batting .286 with nine home runs and 45 RBI’s for the Rockies. The projected starting pitcher for Colorado is Jeff Criswell, who is making his first appearance for Colorado this year.

Pick

Detroit comes into this Game trying to stay in the race for the AL Central, but they have struggled to string wins together lately. Colorado is last in the NL West, but they have played much better at home than they have on the road this year. Colorado is starting Jeff Criswell, who is making his first start of the year for Colorado. Detroit is starting Tyler Alexander, who will operate as the opener in this one. Detroit has struggled to hit the ball consistently this season, but I think they will have a decent day here. I like the Tigers to get the road win.
