The San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners meet Wednesday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Seattle Mariners vs San Diego Padres Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The San Diego Padres will send out Michael King for the start here and King is 12-8 with a 3.10 ERA and 185 strikeouts this season. This will be King’s second career start against the Mariners. The Seattle Mariners will start Bryan Woo here and Woo is 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season. This will be Woo’s first career start against San Diego.

San Diego Padres Recap

The San Diego Padres come into this one looking to build on their 7-3 win over the Seattle Mariners in Tuesday’s opener, putting themselves in a great spot to bounce back from a series loss to the San Francisco Giants from last weekend.

Padres Trying To Secure NL Playoff Spot

Entering Tuesday, Jurickson Profar has 140 hits along with a .277 batting average and 24 doubles with 22 homers and 82 RBIs. Jake Cronenworth has 78 RBIs while Fernando Tatis Jr. has belted 14 home runs, 86 hits, 71 strikeouts and 8 stolen bases as well this season, but is out of the lineup because of injury. Manny Machado has 25 home runs and 90 RBIs but also has 105 strikeouts while Ha-Seong Kim has 94 hits with 3 triples, 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 47 RBIs and a team-high 22 stolen bases. Jackson Merrill has also chipped in 23 home runs, 83 RBIs and 23 doubles with 6 triples this season.

Why the San Diego Padres will win

  • The Padres have won seven of their last eight night games against American League opponents.
  • The Mariners have lost each of their last six Wednesday night games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last nine night games at T-Mobile Park following a home loss.
  • The Padres have covered the run line in six of their last seven road games against teams that held a winning record.

Seattle Mariners Recap

The Seattle Mariners will try to bounce back after taking one on the chin in Tuesday’s series opener. The loss put Seattle behind the 8-ball early in terms of trying to build on their series win over St. Louis from this past weekend.

Mariners Running Out Of Time In AL Playoff Hunt

Going into Tuesday, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 127 hits including a .262 batting average and also has 14 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 29 home runs along with 90 RBIs and 161 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 12 home runs and 44 RBIs while Rodriguez has 21 stolen bases and 134 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has 22 doubles with 29 stolen bases and Josh Rojas has 19 doubles also this season.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The Mariners have won each of their last five home games against National League opponents following a loss.
  • The Padres have lost four of their last five games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in each of their last four night games against National League opponents following a home loss.
  • The Padres have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four night games following a win.

Seattle Mariners vs San Diego Padres Prediction

I’m on the Padres here. King vs. Woo is a great pitching matchup as King’s pitched better on the road and Woo’s been outstanding at home. The difference for me though is what the problem for the Mariners has been all along. Woo can pitch as well as he wants, but if the offense doesn’t show up like we saw against San Diego on Tuesday, it’s a moot point. The Padres are the much more consistent team right now and I think they snag the win. Give me the Padres.
