The Minnesota Twins will start Bailey Ober here and Ober is 12-5 with a 3.49 ERA and 140 strikeouts this season. This will be Ober’s second career start against the Padres. Minnesota Twins Recap
The Minnesota Twins come into this one looking to shake off a 5-3 loss to the Padres in Monday’s series opener. The loss wasn’t the ideal start to the series for Minnesota, who is trying to keep a series win streak going after taking out the Rangers and Royals over the last week.
Twins Trying To Keep In AL Central Race
Going into Monday’s opener, Willi Castro leads the Twins at the dish with 115 hits including 27 doubles and 5 triples as well as 47 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Carlos Santana has 18 home runs with 55 RBIs while Carlos Correa has 13 home runs, 47 RBIs and 16 doubles. Jose Miranda has 26 doubles and Castro has a team-high 121 strikeouts so far this season.
Why the Minnesota Twins will win

- The favorites have won each of the Padres’ last six games at Petco Park.
- The Padres have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight home games against AL Central opponents following a home win.
- The favorites have covered the run line in four of the Padres’ last five games at Petco Park.
San Diego Padres Recap
The San Diego Padres will try to keep the ball rolling after coming out on top in Monday’s series opener. The win was another notch in the cap of the Padres who are still the hottest team in baseball in the second half of the season despite a series loss to the Colorado Rockies this past weekend.
Padres Trying To Close Gap On Dodgers In NL West Race
Entering Monday, Jurickson Profar has 127 hits along with a .291 batting average and 22 doubles with 19 homers and 73 RBIs. Jake Cronenworth has 72 RBIs while Fernando Tatis Jr. has belted 14 home runs, 86 hits, 71 strikeouts and 8 stolen bases as well this season, but is out of the lineup because of injury. Manny Machado has 19 home runs and 71 RBIs but also has 95 strikeouts while Ha-Seong Kim has 94 hits with 3 triples, 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 47 RBIs and a team-high 22 stolen bases.
Why the San Diego Padres will win

- The Twins have lost 15 of their last 17 road games against NL West opponents that held a winning record.
- The Padres have covered the run line each of their last six night games against teams that held a winning record.
- The Twins have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight night games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
- The Padres have won the first inning in each of their last three home games.
San Diego Padres vs Minnesota Twins Prediction
I’m on the under here. This should be another great Game in what I think is going to be an awesome series this entire weekend. That being said, Ober’s really stepped up his Game lately and even though he’s been less effective on the road this season, I think he can have a really solid start. On the other side, Martin Perez has pitched well for his new team and it looks like the change of scenery has really benefitted him. All in all, I think this is going to be a low-scoring battle so give me the under.
