Roy Keane gives brutal assessment of Rasmus Hojlund form
Roy Keane has told Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund to "stop messing about" after firing another blank in Monday night's FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic.
Goals from Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes ensured safe passage to the fourth round of the cup - where they will face either Newport County or Eastleigh. However, the scoreline could've been much more emphatic in United's favour had Hojlund taken his shooting boots to the DW Stadium.
The 20-year-old squandered a number of good chances to put the Game to bed, including missing with a header from point-blank range in the first half.
Although Hojlund netted an impressive five goals in six UEFA Champions League group stage Games, the striker has thoroughly struggled in front of goal in domestic action - scoring just once in 18 Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup outings.
Speaking on ITV about Hojlund's profligacy, ex-United captain Keane (as expected) didn't hold back with his assessment of the Denmark international's performances.
"I'd be fuming with him. [Man Utd] brought their habits from the Premier League in terms of missing chances, and not being clinical. I want to see that side of United tonight," the Irishman said.
"With the striker, he's missing his chances, so we can say unlucky, oh dear. Create opportunities, put them in the back of the net, stop messing about!"
Fellow pundit and current Portugal manager Roberto Martinez was less harsh with his assessment:
"He's such a committed player and gives you so much. I think it's unfair now just to judge him on goals but of course, he's a number nine for Manchester United, he has a big price tag.
"You have to score goals. But he is not doing anything wrong on those chances. In a moment of confidence, the ball hits you and goes into the back of the net."
