Reason Kamala Harris appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast is a ‘strategic decision’.cau
Kamala Harris was a guest on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast earlier this month and while many people criticized her for it, her campaign made a ‘strategic decision’
Earlier this month, Kamala Harris went on the hit podcast Call Her Daddy and left people confused about why she would do that.
The Vice President spoke to the podcast host, Alex Cooper, for 40 minutes. Later that week, she appeared on The View and the Howard Stern Show. Her media blitz had both Republicans and Democrats scratching their heads about her choice to go on non-traditional news outlets.
But there were reasons for Kamala to go on these shows ahead of the November election against Donald Trump. Mainly, it was a way to reach voters.
Going on the typical news shows to do interviews isn’t cutting it anymore. Former Obama White House spokesperson Erik Schultz said: “We dont live in an age when everyone gets their news from three white guys at 6:30 every night.”

An anonymous Democratic strategist close to Kamala’s campaign agreed. They said: “Harris has to make strategic decisions about every second of her time these last few weeks. You just cant capture undecided voters by sticking with the traditional press. So by necessity, you have to spend time in other places.”
Call Her Daddy’s audience of 40 million listeners is full of “politically divided” voters, according to Alex herself. According to data obtained by NPR, the show’s audience is 24% Republican and 20% Independent.
The audience is also predominantly female, with 70% of listeners identifying as women. Of that percentage, 76% are under 35 years old and 93% are under 45.
Kamala is leaning on the female vote as she campaigns for a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion or have any bodily autonomy. Her opponent, Donald Trump instated three Supreme Court judges during his time as president who were crucial in overturning Roe v Wade. Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, has also made comments about “childless cat ladies” and focuses on the traditional conservative nuclear family.
The vice president spoke on Call Her Daddy about negative comments about her not having children, though she’s a step-mom to Cole and Ella Emhoff through her husband Doug. Arkansas governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said that because Kamala didn’t have children, she was unable to be “humble.”
Kamala commented on the podcast that women “are not aspiring to be humble.” She added: “This is not the 1950s anymore.”
“I love those kids to death,” she continued, “Family comes in many forms and I think that increasingly, all of us understand that this is not the 1950s anymore. Families come in all shapes or forms and they are family nonetheless.
