Real Madrid firing youth coach over Barcelona letter
Real Madrid have decided to fire the assistant coach of their under-17 team as a result of a farewell letter he published to his former employers FC Barcelona, as reported by The Athletic.
Diaz is set to be removed from his role with the under-17 side, despite only joining the club in July, when he signed a one-year deal with Los Blancos.
Letter to Barcelona
Senior figures at the LaLiga club have reportedly decided to fire Diaz after discovering his letter to rivals Barcelona, where he coached different youth teams between 2015 and 2019.
In the letter, Diaz expressed affection and gratitude towards the Catalan club, who supported him through a tough period, with his mother suffering from cancer.
Real Madrid are expected to compensate Diaz by paying him the entirety of his salary.
