Oprah Winfrey breaks down her exercise routine in ABC special after admitting to using weight-loss drug to drop pounds
There is more to Oprah Winfrey’s slim-down than weight-loss medication.
The media mogul broke down the exercise routine she maintains during her ABC special “Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution” Monday.
She told viewers that, in addition to a “Healthy diet,” she is intentional about “hiking three to five miles a day.”
Winfrey, 70, shared that she also goes on runs and does weight resistance training.
However, the former talk show host raved about the positive effects weight-loss drugs have had on her journey — although she has yet to specify whether she has taken Ozempic, Wegovy or another version of semaglutide.
“All these years, I thought all of the people who never had to diet were just using their willpower, and they were for some reason stronger than me,” she explained. “And now I realize y’all weren’t even thinking about the food!”
Winfrey added that she is no longer “obsessing” and “constantly thinking” about her meals, gushing, “There is now a sense of hope and no longer blaming yourself.
“When I tell you how many times I have blamed myself …” she continued. “Because you think, ‘I’m smart enough to figure this out,’ and then to hear all along it’s you fighting your brain!”

Elsewhere in the special, the Daytime Emmy winner looked back on the 25 years she hosted “The Oprah Winfrey Show” when “making fun of [her] weight was a national sport.”
She recalled, “I took on the shame that the world gave to me. … I come to this conversation with the hope that we can start releasing the stigma and the shame and the judgment, to stop shaming other people for being overweight or how they choose to lose — or not lose — weight and, most importantly, to stop shaming ourselves.”
Winfrey first confirmed her use of weight-loss medication in December 2023, three months after calling Ozempic the “easy way out” on an episode of “Oprah Daily’s The Life You Want: The State of Weight.”
She has since resigned from the WeightWatchers board after nine years to avoid the “appearance of any conflict of interest” in her special.
