The Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland A’s meet Saturday in MLB action from the Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Oakland Athletics vs LA Angels Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Los Angeles Angels will start Jack Kochanowicz here and Kochanowicz is 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA and 1 strikeout this season. This will be Kochanowicz’s first career start against Oakland. The Oakland A’s will send out Mitch Spence for the start here and Spence is 5-6 with a 4.75 ERA and 72 strikeouts this season. In his career, Spence is 1-1 with a 5.91 ERA and 11 strikeouts against the Angels.
Los Angeles Angels Recap
The Los Angeles Angels will look to bounce back after starting the second half with a sluggish performance in Friday’s opener. Not a good look for an Angels team that only just snapped a lengthy series losing streak with their sweep of the Mariners prior to the all-star break.
Angels Trying To Get Their Act Together
Going into Friday, Taylor Ward has 78 hits along with 17 doubles, 14 home runs and a team-high 44 RBIs. Mike Trout also has 10 home runs along with a pair of triples and 6 stolen bases, but remains out indefinitely with injury while Zach Neto has 22 doubles, 80 strikeouts and 14 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has 79 hits and 22 stolen bases while Jo Adell has 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as well. Logan O’Hoppe and Neto each have 80 hits as well with O’Hoppe adding 14 homers and 42 RBIs.
Oakland A’s Recap
The A’s will look to keep the momentum going after a strong offensive showing in Friday’s opener, keeping the momentum going from their series victory over the Phillies before the all-star break.
A’s Looking To Play Spoiler
Entering Friday’s opener, Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 62 RBIs along with 21 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 72 hits and 24 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 25 doubles, 4 triples, 80 hits and 32 RBIs and Toro has a .260 batting average. Rooker also has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 112 K’s at the dish this season, alongside Zack Gelof, who has 109 strikeouts. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 17 home runs and 50 RBIs.
Oakland Athletics vs LA Angels Prediction
I’m on the A’s here. I just can’t get behind the Angels in their current form and Spence has pitched his better baseball at home this season and while Spence struggled against the Angels on the road, in Oakland, he pitched far better against the Halos. Oakland has been playing the much better baseball as of late and I just think they’re worth the play here.
