The Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland A’s meet Friday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Oakland Athletics vs LA Angels Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Los Angeles Angels did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted. The Oakland A’s will start JP Sears here and Sears is 6-7 with a 4.56 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Angels, Sears is 2-2 with a 4.01 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

Los Angeles Angels Recap

The Los Angeles Angels come into the second half of the season hoping to build on their series win over the Mariners, winning the last three Games of the set thanks to a 3-2 win in Sunday’s series finale, snapping a series losing streak that included losses against the Rangers and Cubs over the last couple of weeks.

Angels Trying To Save Face Over Second Half

Taylor Ward has 78 hits along with 17 doubles, 14 home runs and a team-high 44 RBIs. Mike Trout also has 10 home runs along with a pair of triples and 6 stolen bases, but remains out indefinitely with injury while Zach Neto has 22 doubles, 80 strikeouts and 14 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has 79 hits and 22 stolen bases while Jo Adell has 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and 10 stolen bases as well. Logan O’Hoppe and Neto each have 80 hits as well with O’Hoppe adding 14 homers and 42 RBIs.

Why the Los Angeles Angels will win

  • The Athletics have lost each of their last six games following a road win.
  • The Angels have won four of their last five games.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four games following a road win.
  • The Angels have covered the run line in five of their last six games.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s will try to play spoiler a bit down the stretch after taking their series with the Philadelphia Phillies thanks to an 18-4 blowout win in their series finale before the all-star break, bouncing back from series losses to the Red Sox and Orioles in the prior series.

A’s Trying To Provide Value

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 62 RBIs along with 21 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 72 hits and 24 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 25 doubles, 4 triples, 80 hits and 32 RBIs and Toro has a .260 batting average. Rooker also has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 112 K’s at the dish this season, alongside Zack Gelof, who has 109 strikeouts. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 17 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • The Angels have lost each of their last six games as road favorites.
  • The Athletics have won each of their last five games as home underdogs against the Angels.
  • The Angels have failed to cover the run line each of their last nine games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum against teams that held a losing record.
  • The home team has covered the run line in each of the last seven games between the Angels and Athletics.

Oakland Athletics vs LA Angels Prediction

I’m on the A’s here. I haven’t been the biggest JP Sears backer this season, but he’s in great form right now and the Angels have stunk up the joint in July so far against left-handed pitching. Sears is usually one of the A’s best chances at getting a win from starting pitching, and I think that he holds down the fort and helps the A’s start the second half on the right foot. Give me Oakland at home.
