According to New Jersey police, the accident occurred when the driver, 43-year-old Shan Higgins, allegedly tried to pass another vehicle and struck the Gaudreau brothers from behind. Officers at the scene reported a strong odor of alcohol on Higgins, who later admitted to consuming at least five to six beers before driving. He failed a field sobriety test and is now facing two counts of death by auto. Higgins is expected to appear in court today.
