Mavs vs Celtics Prop Picks and Best Bets for Game 2 of the NBA Finals
The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics face off in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. The Celtics jumped out to a 29-point lead in the second quarter against the Mavs and held on for a 107-89 victory in the series opener on Thursday.
Although I don't necessarily expect another rout, my NBA picks for Sunday are counting on a few scenarios to repeat. That includes Kyrie Irving's aversion to passing the rock and Kristaps Porzingis' ability to put the ball in the hoop. Here are my three favorite player props for the Mavericks vs. Celtics on June 9.
Before placing your wagers on Game 2, make sure to also check out Tom Oldfield's full Mavs vs. Celtics predictions!
Best NBA player props today
- Porzingis Over 15.5 points (-108 at FanDuel)
- Irving Under 4.5 assists (-130 at DraftKings)
- Green Over 0.5 three-pointers made (-120 at bet365)
Picks made on 6-8 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
NBA player props for June 9
Prop bet #1: God mode
Nobody expected Kristaps Porzingis to instantly impact the series opener for the Boston Celtics. After missing more than a month with a calf injury, Porzingis came off the bench to drop 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting.
The 7-foot-2 big man showed little rust, especially with the touch on his jumper, and it's clear that the Dallas Mavericks don't have a defender capable of matching up against him. The one area of his game where he wasn't at full strength was his cardio, which limited him to a modest 21 minutes of floor time.
That said, Porzingis should see his minutes ramp up as he gets his cardio back, and an increase in playing time will lead to even more scoring opportunities for the Unicorn.
Kristaps Porzingis prop: Over 15.5 points (-108 at FanDuel)

Prop bet #2: Lack of dimes
One of the craziest stats from Game 1 was Dallas finishing with just nine assists. Leading up to Game 1 of the Finals, this is a team that averaged 25.0 assists per game in the regular season and playoffs.
Kyrie Irving recorded just a pair of dimes in Game 1 while posting only three potential assists, and he also posted only two when these teams last met in the regular season on March 1. Irving has now gone below 4.5 assists in six of his last eight games and I don't see him surpassing that number on Sunday.
Kyrie Irving prop: Under 4.5 assists (-130 at DraftKings)
Prop bet #3: Green light
The Mavericks shot just 7-for-27 from beyond the arc in Game 1, but shooting guard Josh Green drained his only attempt from deep. Green hit 1.3 threes per game at a 38.5% clip during the regular season, and while his minutes have ticked down a bit during the playoffs, he has still been one of Dallas' top bench players. Green logged 20 minutes in Game 1 and is averaging 20.2 minutes per game over his last five contests.
The Mavs need to shoot better from long range, and that will mean stressing ball movement and getting role players like Green more involved in their offense. Since the start of May, Green has knocked down at least one triple in 13 of 14 games, and I like his chances of doing so again on Sunday.
Josh Green prop: Over 0.5 three-pointers made (-120 at bet365)
