Mars Shows Signs of Life: NASA Detects Unusual Activity from Within
It turned out that Mars wasn’t as quiet as people had thought at first. Instead, there is a lot of rumbling and groaning due to earthquakes on the red planet.
Deep inside the planet, there are strong shocks, and right now, molten lava may be pouring just below the crust of Mars. If it’s true, it will change what we know about Martian geodynamics that we’ve learned over the years. It would mean that volcanic activity on the red planet is not only possible, but also ongoing and happening more often than we thought.
Even so, what does this rumbling mean? How will it change how we think about the rocks on Mars? Lastly, and most importantly, how will this groundbreaking discovery change our efforts to find both past and present life on Mars?
