Luis Palma makes candid admission about his Celtic form on Instagram after semi-final win

Luis Palma hasn’t been in the best of form since the winter break and it’s something he fully recognises he needs to address at Celtic.

The Honduran winger made a solid impact in the first half of the season and has 19 goal contributions to his name since joining the Bhoys last summer.

However, he’s struggled to reach those heights recently. There are valid reasons for that. He is currently coming back from injury and fitness issues that have seen him miss Games for club and country.

He was again used as a second-half substitute for Celtic in today’s dramatic semi-final win over Aberdeen and, despite the joy of reaching the final, he’s made it clear he’s not entirely happy with what he’s been offering.

The 24-year-old has now vowed to do everything he can to again produce what he feels he is capable of.

Luis Palma sends heartfelt message to Celtic fans

Writing on Instagram, he said: “In my career I have had many high and lows but I have always been able to get up. I’m aware that I’m not at the level that I would like due to many circumstances but I’m working day by day to reach that level that I know I can reach.

“Today was an extraordinary job. I’m very proud of this group. We’re going ahead. See you in the final. 25th May. Thanks to all the fans for that unconditional support.”

Palma did make one important contribution on Saturday – striking a cool penalty into the back of the net during the 6-5 shoot-out victory.

Fans will hope that’s the kind of confidence boost he needs for him to hit form in the remaining six Games of the season.

Pundit Chris Sutton has called for him to ‘step up’ and show what he’s all about in this period, feeling he’ll be needed if Celtic are to get over the line and secure a league and cup double.

If he can spark into life during this crucial run-in, he’ll earn himself a lot of goodwill heading into a new season.
