The Los Angeles Lakers have been plagued by three consistent issues over the past two years: a lack of 3-point shooting, no solid centers to give Anthony Davis relief in the post and nobody to serve as an offensive spark plug off the bench when the starters sit.

Coming into this NBA offseason, the hope was that L.A. would address at least two out of those three weaknesses. Up until mid-August, the only notable thing the Lakers had accomplished was drafting Bronny James – who doesn’t exactly check any of those boxes.

On Tuesday, however, Los Angeles finally decided to do something about the lack of capable shooting on the roster and its glut at the center position.

“The Los Angeles Lakers have signed center Kylor Kelley and guard Quincy Olivari,” the team announced on social media.

Olivari went undrafted, but the Xavier-product is a really solid pickup for L.A. He averaged 19.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game last season. All while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Over the course of five years played between Xavier and Rice he averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He did all this while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from the three-point range.

He is exactly what the Lakers need right now.

Additionally, Los Angeles is currently one of two frontrunners for John Wall. He could be the offensive sparkplug that the team needs off the bench next year.

While the offseason obviously didn’t go as planned for the Lakers, they are doing their best to fix up the roster ahead of next season.
