The Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels meet Sunday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s an LA Angels vs Oakland Athletics Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Oakland A’s will send out Osvaldo Bido for the start here and Bido is 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. This will be Bido’s first career start against the Angels. The Los Angeles Angels will trot out Jose Soriano here and Soriano is 6-7 with a 3.51 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season. This will be Soriano’s second career start against the A’s.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s will try to complete the sweep of the Angels after posting a 3-1 win over the Halos in Saturday’s matchup. The victory on Saturday gave Oakland the series win, giving Oakland another series win after vanquishing the Astros and Angels since the all-star break and the Phillies before that.

A’s Trying To Surge Ahead Of Angels

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 72 RBIs along with 25 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 75 hits and 25 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 30 doubles, 4 triples, 88 hits and 36 RBIs and Toro has a .253 batting average. Rooker also has 116 K’s at the dish this season, while Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 119 strikeouts this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 20 home runs and 56 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • The underdogs have won each of the Angels’ last seven games.
  • The Angels have lost each of their last six games as favorites.
  • The road team has covered the run line in each of the Angels’ last seven games.
  • The Angels have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six games as favorites.

Los Angeles Angels Recap

The Los Angeles Angels will try to salvage something from this series after ending up with the series loss following Saturday’s defeat. The loss was not a good look for the Angels who were unable to follow up on their series sweep in Seattle to start the week.

Angels Trying To Save Face

Taylor Ward has 84 hits along with 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 47 RBIs. Mike Trout also has 10 home runs along with a pair of triples and 6 stolen bases, but remains out indefinitely with injury while Zach Neto has 23 doubles, 85 strikeouts and 18 stolen bases. Luis Rengifo also has 82 hits and 23 stolen bases while Jo Adell has 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and 13 stolen bases as well. Logan O’Hoppe has 88 hits and Neto has a team-high 89 hits as well with O’Hoppe adding 14 homers and 43 RBIs.

Why the Los Angeles Angels will win

  • The Athletics have lost each of their last nine Sunday games against American League opponents.
  • The home team has won 16 of the last 21 games between the Athletics and Angels.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line each of their last nine Sunday games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Angels have covered the run line in four of their last five day games against the Athletics at Angel Stadium of Anaheim following a home loss.

LA Angels vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

I’m on the A’s here. It’s just really hard to ignore how well the A’s have been playing as of late, and while some are sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop with Oakland, I’m not one of those people anymore. The A’s are just flat out playing solid baseball, and aren’t a team (and I can’t believe I’m saying this either) that I’m interested in stepping in front of right now. Oakland and a four-Game sweep seems crazy, but the Angels are dead in the water. Give me Oakland.
