Full-back Kostas Tsimikas has admitted that he was not happy with his performances for Liverpool prior to his star-turn in a recent win over Brentford.

Tsimikas is set to be Liverpool's starting full-back for the foreseeable future after Andy Robertson was ruled out with a shoulder injury recently. Robertson dislocated his shoulder during the October international break and, amid concerns the injury could reoccur in the future, he was forced to undergo surgery on the issue.

While surgery proved to be successful, there is no set timeline for the player's return to action.

In Robertson's absence, Tsimikas has started three Premier League Games for the Reds, bagging two assists in a particularly impressing outing against Brentford prior to the November international break.

Speaking to the club's official website about his performances, Tsimikas admitted that the outing against Brentford was the first he'd been pleased with since his integration into the starting lineup.

"Before Brentford, I was not in the best condition of myself," he confessed." I try to find my best moments, I try to fight back, to be the player I was before, to make assists, to run, to defend, to do everything on the pitch.

"I'm really happy I came back against Brentford. I have to keep going with the same passion.

"Ok, this can happen, we play football, it's a very difficult sport. It's up to me now to continue to play good and to make assists for the team."

Tsimikas will be hoping to continue the form he showed against Brentford this weekend when Liverpool face off against treble winners Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. The Reds go into the Game knowing that a win will see them go top of the Premier League table.
