Kawhi Leonard’s Troubling Health Diagnosis Is Bad News For Clippers

Kawhi Leonard had a surprisingly Healthy season for most of the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2023-24 NBA campaign. He played in 68 of the team’s 76 outings and participated in numerous back-to-backs.

Unfortunately, it appears as though the good times are coming to an end.

Leonard has missed multiple Games for L.A. in recent weeks. He missed last Friday’s Game against the Utah Jazz as well as Tuesday’s outing versus the Sacramento Kings and their battle with the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.

Originally the Clippers said Leonard out with “right knee soreness.” Now it is “right knee inflammation.”

So what exactly is going on with Leonard?

According to Clippers insider Tomar Azarly, the team is facing something of a mixed bag when it comes to Leonard’s heath.

“According to sources not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, Kawhi Leonard underwent a precautionary MRI upon returning to Los Angeles, which did not show anything that would cause the Clippers significant concern,” he wrote.

“Leonard is dealing with inflammation in his right knee and will miss his third straight game on Friday night on against the Utah Jazz, but he’s not expected to be out long enough to endanger his playoff availability, assuming the Clippers finish with a top six seed.”

The problem here is that just because the Clippers couldn’t find anything that would cause them “significant concern” doesn’t mean Leonard won’t just sit out anyway. He proved as much during his time with the San Antonio Spurs and even during some parts of his L.A. stint.

If Leonard and his team grow wary of his health, he is going to sit. Point blank.

And that is very bad news for the Clippers’ title aspirations.

Will Leonard be able to get his health back on track and guide the Clippers on some sort of meaningful playoff run? Time will tell.
