John Cena announces his retirement from WWE during Money in the Bank: Here’s what he said
Debuting in 2002, Cena quickly rose to prominence, becoming a five-time United States Champion and a four-time tag team champion in addition, to winning 16 world championships, tying the record set by Ric Flair. Known for his catchphrase “You can’t see me” and his signature move, the Attitude Adjustment, Cena has headlined numerous WrestleMania events and is a two-time Royal Rumble winner.
During the Money in the Bank event, Cena emotionally revealed that he’s stepping away from in-ring comPetition. The decision comes after decades of grueling matches, movie roles, and philanthropic endeavors. Fans expressed gratitude for his contributions, and Cena thanked them for allowing him to be part of their lives.
“After 20 years of giving my heart and soul to this ring, it’s time to step away. I’ve been fortunate to have an incredible career here in WWE, and I will always be grateful for the opportunities and the love from the fans. This isn’t goodbye; it’s just a new beginning. Thank you for all the support, and remember, you never give up on your dreams. The WWE Universe will always be my family.” Cena told fans.
Retirement from professional wrestling and future plans
While Cena won’t wrestle regularly, he remains committed to WWE. He’ll transition to a mentorship role, guiding young talent. Additionally, his Hollywood career continues to flourish.
