Is Luka Modric going to become part of Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff at Real Madrid?
Luka Modric has a new offer on the table to turn his career around. After a very long and successful career as a Footballer, the Croatian midfielder is facing his final years as a professional at the age of 38. The midfielder signed for another year last season, but his impact at Real Madrid has declined. The number 10 has played just over 1,000 minutes and is far from being one of Carlo Ancelotti’s regulars. Even so, the Italian highly values his ability as a player and also as a future coach.
According Ramón Álvarez de Mon and soon confirmed by AS, Carlo Ancelotti wants Luka Modric to start his career in the dugouts, by his side, and has offered him to start working as part of his staff for the 24/25 season if he decides to retire from football at the end of this season. The midfielder appreciates the offer, although it seems that the LaLiga midfielder ended up rejecting it, considering that he still has more to give on the pitch, either at the Bernabéu or somewhere else.
Modric has not lost motivation despite lack of minutes
As he has shown throughout his career, giving up for Luka Modric is not an option and he only accepts defeat once the final whistle blows. The midfielder is a born competitor and continues to fight in order to show that he can stay for one more year at Real Madrid.
The Croatian does not want to be gifted a place in the squad due to his status, he wants to earn it on the pitch. “My only condition to stay was that I was treated as a comPetitive player, as I have been so far, and not to be kept in the squad based on past merits,” he said last September.
At the moment, he is down in 15th in terms of minutes played, although he has not played in the key matches in this stretch of the season, such as the Games against Atlético de Madrid, Girona or the first leg of the Champions League against RB Leipzig.
At the moment, Modric has not made the final decision about his future. The midfielder is looking to finish the season in the best way and prove his worth at Real Madrid every chance he gets. On the horizon there is also the challenge of the Euros with Croatia, a comPetition in which he has never managed to go as far as in the World Cup. He has a silver (2018) and a bronze (2022) medal in the World Cup; in the Euros, two eliminations in the round of 16 have been Croatia’s maximum results.
Modric wants to successfully overcome these new challenges before stepping away from the pitch and giving orders from behind the white line. The ball of his future is at his feet and ready to be ‘played’ with both courage and quality, as we have always seen with Luka.
