The backdrop tool will appear once a picture has been capture or uploaded from Photo Library, and will exist alongside other icons on the top of the screen. Once the icon is clicked the image's background will go checkered and a text box will appear prompting you to "describe the backdrop you want..."
Stories created with AI backdrop will get tagged by Instagram along with a sticker promoting viewers to try the feature and the prompt you used for this background.
